They actually do have this feature built into Chrome now but it's hard to find. You have to click the "three dots" icon in the upper left corner, mouse over History, and a popout will display the last 8 closed items.

Google records my chrome browsing history and this is very useful when switching from one device to another. Except today, when I logged into my account on Chrome to discover my browsing history does not go back further than 7.19pm today. I have checked and this is the same across all my devices.
